How this actually works

When you pick a “font” here you are not changing a typeface — you are swapping each letter for a different character that already exists in Unicode. The letter a becomes 𝐚, 𝔞 or ⓐ, and those are separate characters in the standard, the same way é and e are separate. That is why the result survives a copy and paste into an app that gives you no font controls at all.

It also explains the limits. A styled alphabet only contains the characters Unicode chose to encode, and the coverage is uneven. Mathematical alphabets have no accented letters and no punctuation. Small capitals are missing a Q. Subscript letters barely exist. Anywhere a character has no counterpart, FontVibe leaves it as it is rather than reaching for a lookalike from an unrelated script — a Cyrillic а standing in for a Latina looks identical and quietly breaks search, autocorrect and screen readers.

Accented letters, handled properly

There is no bold é in Unicode. Most generators either drop the accent or skip the letter, which is why French and Spanish text comes out looking broken elsewhere. Where it renders and where it does not

Support depends on the reader’s device font, not on you. The classic alphabets — bold, italic, cursive, gothic, outline, monospace — render nearly everywhere. Enclosed letters and runes are well supported on iOS and Android but patchier on older Windows. If a style shows empty boxes on your screen, it will look the same to anyone using that device, so it is worth checking on a phone before committing it to a bio.

Questions people actually ask

Are these real fonts?

No, and that is why they work. Each style is a set of Unicode characters that already exist in the standard, so pasting them into Instagram, TikTok, Discord or a game nickname needs no font installed on the reader’s device.

Why do some characters stay unchanged?

Unicode does not provide a styled version of every character. There is no superscript q, for example, and no small-capital x. Rather than substitute a lookalike from an unrelated alphabet, which breaks search and screen readers, the original character is left alone.

Will accented letters work?

Yes. Unicode has no accented forms in its styled alphabets, so the base letter is styled and the accent is re-attached on top. É, ñ, ç and ü all survive — most generators drop the accent or leave the letter unstyled.

Does Instagram allow this?

Yes. You are pasting ordinary text, not exploiting anything. Bear in mind that heavily styled text is harder for screen readers to announce, so it is worth keeping your name readable and saving the decoration for flourishes.
